Important changes concerning WiFi usage at RWTH Aachen University

In the next months there will be two changes at the RWTH Aachen, which will have a direct influence on the eduroam usage.

These changes will take place on 04.06.2019 and 09.07.2019. All relevant information can be found below.

Should you not carry out the two changes listed below, you will no longer be able to connect to the eduroam WLAN from 09.07.2019 at the latest!

1. ) Access eduroam: Only with eduroam device manager credentials

As of 04.06.2019, eduroam can only be used with access data generated from the eduroam Device Manager.
In this context, the account "WLAN/VPN" (see SelfService "Account Overview") will be renamed to "VPN", as these access data are no longer valid for logging in to eduroam. Generate access data as early as possible via the eduroam device manager.

Login to the various institute WLANs is excluded from this conversion. The login will take place here from 04.06.2019 via the "VPN" account.
Further information on the Institus WLAN can be found here.

2.) WLAN change: Integrate new security certificate

On 09.07.2019 the conversion to a new security certificate will take place. In order to continue using the university-wide WLAN eduroam, it is necessary that you integrate the new security certificate.
The current root certificate is issued by Deutsche Telekom and loses its validity on 09.07.2019. This will be replaced by a new certificate.
Therefore, change your security certificate by 09.07.2019 as described in our configuration instructions and use eduroam only with credentials generated from the eduroam device manager.

 eduroam device manager

Start by creating credentials via the eduroam device manager. You will find the instructions under the following link. You do not have to remember the login data. If you need new login data, simply generate it again. To login to the eduroam device manager, use the access data for the "RWTH Single Sign-On" account (user name as defined in ab123456 and the password for the RWTH Single Sign-On).
