Registration / Activation

All groups of people pass through the redemption of a coupon in the IdentityManagement. Depending on the group of persons the responsible department issues this coupon. You can belong to multiple groups at the same time. If you e.g. as student take a "HIWI-job", you get also an employee coupon.

When redeeming any coupons, you have the possibility to register. Redeem any coupons, but avoid to register several times! Instead link the coupons to your record by logging in at redemption via the button "Login" via RWTH Single Sign-On.

Only if you have redeemed all coupons, you can optimally use all services. Depending on the status you have different options in the services or even access is granted or not.

Not part of any of the above mentioned groups?

Please check if you are part of one of the groups that are able to register for the Identity Management via a coupon procedure. If this is not the case and you, in the interests of RWTH Aachen University, still need access to the services, an employee of RWTH Aachen University can make you a partner.

Therefore the employee needs to generate a coupon for you, which then enables you to register.

You will receive your access data for the Identity Management after the successful registration and may then use the provided services.

Access data for the Identity Management

To use the Identity Management, you need your username (format: ab123456) and your password. The username cannot be changed.

Password Management

During the registration process you will receive a first password. This can be used for the Selfservice, RWTH Single Sign-On, VPN and Eduroam. The Selfservice enables you to set an individual password for each Account in the Identity Management under the tab „Accounts and Passwords“. Or, alternatively, you may use the same password for all accounts. To change a password, you have to know the password for your RWTH Single Sign-On account to be able to log into the Selfservice.

For the WLAN/VPN account please use a password that is different from the passwords of your other accounts! There are security gaps known to allow the theft of your WLAN access data.

Password or username lost

If you forgot your access data you can find further information here.
